Co2 Laser Resurfacing
Advanced skin rejuvenation for
smoother, tighter, fresher-looking skin.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
We now offer CO2 Laser Resurfacing at M&M Aesthetics in Norwich.
This is one of the most powerful and respected treatments in advanced skin rejuvenation, helping to improve the appearance of ageing, sun damage, acne scarring,
loose skin, lines, wrinkles and uneven texture.
CO2 laser resurfacing works by using precise laser energy to resurface the skin and stimulate your body’s natural healing response. As the skin repairs, it encourages fresh collagen and elastin production, helping the skin look firmer, smoother and more refreshed over time. Fractional CO2 lasers create microscopic columns of treated skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact, which helps support recovery compared with traditional fully ablative resurfacing.

After Care Instructions
Immediately After Treatment
Following treatment, your skin will feel hot, tight, red, and swollen — similar to severe sunburn. This is completely normal.
Swelling is often worse the morning after treatment, especially around the eyes.
Cooling the Skin
Use your ice pack regularly during the first 24 hours to help reduce heat and swelling. Never apply ice directly onto the skin — always wrap it in a clean cloth
Vinegar Soaks & Cleansing Instructions
Starting 2 Hours After Treatment
You must begin vinegar soaks approximately 2 hours after your treatment.
After the first soak, repeat the process every 4 hours during the initial healing phase.
The diluted distilled white malt vinegar helps keep the skin clean and helps reduce the risk of infection while your skin is healing.
How to Prepare the Solution
Mix:
- 1½ inches of cool boiled water
- 1 tablespoon of distilled white malt vinegar
Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your skin.
How to Apply
Using the sterile gauze provided:
- Soak the gauze in the vinegar solution
- Gently pat the treated areas
- Do NOT rub the skin
- Do NOT scrub
- Do NOT pick at the skin or peeling areas
This is extremely important and helps prevent irritation, scarring, infection, and pigmentation problems.
Continue the soaks regularly, especially if the skin feels hot, tight, or uncomfortable.
Sleeping Instructions
For at least the first 2 nights:
- Sleep elevated with extra pillows
- Avoid lying completely flat
Sleeping elevated helps significantly reduce swelling and puffiness.
We also recommend:
- Using a clean pillowcase each night
- Keeping hair away from the face
- Avoiding pets near the treated area while healing
Healing Process
Your skin will begin to:
- Feel dry and tight
- Darken or bronze
- Shed and peel naturally
This is a normal part of the healing process.
IMPORTANT
- Do NOT pick peeling skin
- Do NOT rub or exfoliate
- Allow the skin to shed naturally
Prematurely removing skin can lead to scarring, prolonged redness, and post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Moisturising
From approximately Day 4 onwards, you may apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly (such as Vaseline) to the treated areas if advised by your practitioner.
This can help relieve dryness and support healing.
Recovery Time
Most clients are largely healed within:
- 5–7 days
Some redness or sensitivity may continue for several weeks while collagen remodelling takes place.
Results will continue to improve over the following months as new collagen develops.
Sun Protection
Once the skin has fully healed and there is:
- No open skin
- No crusting
- No active peeling
You MUST:
- Use a medical-grade broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily
- Reapply SPF regularly
- Avoid direct sun exposure
- Wear a wide-brimmed hat outdoors
Sun exposure after CO2 laser can cause pigmentation and may compromise your results.
Things to Avoid During Healing
Please avoid the following until fully healed:
- Sun exposure
- Saunas and steam rooms
- Swimming pools and hot tubs
- Intense exercise causing excessive sweating (48–72 hours minimum)
- Makeup until advised safe
- Active skincare ingredients including:
- Retinol
- AHAs/BHAs
- Vitamin C acids
- Exfoliants
Avoid anything that may irritate or overheat the skin.
When to Contact the Clinic
Please contact the clinic immediately if you experience:
- Increasing pain after the first few days
- Excessive swelling
- Yellow crusting or pus
- Fever
- Blistering
- Signs of infection
- Severe itching or allergic reaction
Important Reminder
Healing is a process. Looking after your skin correctly after treatment is just as important as the treatment itself and plays a huge role in achieving the best possible outcome.
If you have any concerns during healing, please contact M&M Aesthetics for advice.
